I Love You So Much
Artist: Amy Cook
Story: In 2010, a local musician Amy Cook spray painted a love letter to her partner Liz Lambert, owner at Jo’s Coffee on South Congress. It’s located on the side of Jo’s Coffee. “I love you so much” mural is now one of the most famous Murals in Austin.

Greetings from Austin
Artist: Todd Sanders
Story: “Greetings from Austin” is another popular mural worth visiting. Originally painted by Todd Sanders, the owner of Roadside Relics, alongside his friend Roy Skagen in 1998. It was updated by the community in 2013.

You’re My Butter Half
Artist: John Rockwell
Story: “You’re My Butter Half” is an Instagrammable mural in Austin. Created by John Rockwell of Creative Suitcase in collaboration with United Way. It’s located in the United Way building on East Austin. It was defaced in January [see pic above]. It has since been restored by a touchup muralist. The current owner of the building got a laugh out of it. The original was done with anti-defacing paint so restoration was fairly quick.

Hi, How Are You?
Artist: Daniel Johnston
Story: “Hi, How Are You” is a cool Mural painted by Daniel Johnston who was a singer-songwriter active in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. The original owner of the building it is painted on was Sound Exchange which was a big part of the Austin music scene. The building has had several owners since. In 2018, Austin’s mayor declared January 22nd to be “Hi, How Are You” Day to celebrate mental wellness.

Austin, Texas
Artist: Kerry Awn
Story: A postcard-style mural of “Austin, Texas” by Kerry Awn is located on the side of Planet K in downtown Austin. Kerry Awn is an American cartoonist, actor, muralist, comedian, musician, iconographer, and poster artist. He also has several murals in Austin.

Love From Austin
Artist: Charlie Copp
Story: “Love from Austin” is an iconic Austin street art mural that is worth visiting. It was created by local artist Charlie Copp of Lymbo Clothing in 2016. It’s located on the famous South Congress (SoCo) on the side of Prima Dora, a unique Austin gift shop.

Willie For President
Artist: The mural was drawn by Jacqui Oakley with type and background designed by Erick Montes and painted by Joe Swec.
Story: The Stag Provisions For Men teamed up artists, Jacqui Oakley, Erick Montes, and Joe Swec to create the mural “Willie for President” with red and white rays extending from the center to the outside of the picture. Willie Nelson, a well-known country singer, is an Austin local who has made an impact on Austin.

ATX Sign
Artist: Ion Art owned by husband-and-wife duo Greg and Sharon Keshishian
Story: The ATX Sculpture is not a mural, but it’s a very popular and instagrammable icon in downtown Austin. The ATX sculpture was designed to be an interactive public art installation. Designed by Ion Art for the original Whole Foods. In 2017, Whole Foods dedicated this sculpture to the city of Austin and its residents.
