My family and I went to Walt Disney World in Florida during Spring Break in March 2021. We wanted to celebrate our son’s birthday at Walt Disney World before he turned three years old. Kids under three years old have free entry into all the Disney parks. We are a Disney family and have visited Walt Disney World several times with our older two children. There’s nothing like experiencing the Disney magic through the eyes of your child. With the pandemic, we knew this experience would be a little bit different than our last visits.
What to Expect at the Walt Disney World Parks
The parks have a lot of covid precautions in place to abide by the CDC guidelines. (as of March 2021)
- Masks are required for guests ages 2 and up and must be worn at all times except when dining or swimming. They may be removed while eating, drinking, or taking an outdoor photo (as of April 8, 2021). One must be stationary and remain within social distance.
- Each person will have their temperature checked at the gate. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 F or above will not be allowed entry. The accompanying group will also not be allowed entry.
- There are hand sanitizer and handwashing stations everywhere to keep hands clean.
- There are markers on the queue to encourage social distance.
- The seating in the rides and the shows are staggered. Some have barriers between the seats and between the lines.
- Cashless payment is recommended in all transactions. There are some places that accept cash.
- There is a limited capacity in the parks. Once a ticket has been purchased, a reservation is required per park.
- There are limited shows available.
- There are no fireworks at the end.
- Instead of a big parade, they had cavalcades that passed by throughout the day.
- The My Disney Experience App has all the abilities to manage your reservations, mobile orders, virtual queues, map, and wait times.
Actual Experience
- Although guests ages 2 and up were required to wear a mask, there were some people that would occasionally remove their mask while waiting in line, walking, or riding the rides. The cast members were stringent on masks wearing and made sure to encourage everyone to wear them and properly.
- The parks were not as busy as pre-covid because of the limited capacity. Be aware that it does get very busy in the most popular sections and rides. It was very hard to keep distance in some areas.
- Although there were markers to help with the social distancing, there were some people who did not keep their distance.
Overall Experience
Even with all the covid precautions, Walt Disney World was still very much a magical experience. We had a great time. The girls were big enough to enjoy all the big rides with Dad. My son and I rode the small rides. My son had the best time. He loved seeing Mickey Mouse and all the characters. He loved watching the shows. He even rode his first roller coaster, the Barnstormer. We got to ride the popular rides in less than 60 minutes or less. These rides would be more than an hour to wait before covid. The parks were less crowded. We were able to do the rides and the shows we wanted in one day. At Magic Kingdom, it would have taken us two days to do some of the rides and shows because of the long lines.

Walt Disney World in Florida is one top destination for families in the world. It’s a magical experience for all ages. Walt Disney World comprises four parks, Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. In addition, there are two water parks, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. It would take at least a week to visit all the parks and enjoy most of the attractions.
