For Spring break this year, we went to Disney World. One of my favorite parks this time is Disney’s Animal kingdom. I experienced the amazing Pandora – The World of Avatar for the first time. This section was not available on my last visit in 2015. When my son was born, my husband took the girls to Disney World with their aunt. My daughters remembered all the fun attractions from their last visit in 2018. They were very eager to show me all of their favorite rides this time around.
We all had our favorite rides in Animal Kingdom. Here are our top 5 favorites.
Top Five Favorite Attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
1. Kilimanjaro Safaris
Kilimanjaro Safaris Kilimanjaro Safaris Kilimanjaro Safaris
Kilimanjaro Safaris is always a family favorite at Animal Kingdom. It’s a guided tour safari ride through the African savanna with live animals roaming free. Families get to view real-life giraffes, cheetahs, elephants, and many more in their environment. Our son loved seeing the giraffes roaming in the field and reaching for the leaves to eat.

2. Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
Expedition Everest is our oldest daughter’s favorite ride. It’s a big roller coaster ride through the Himalayan mountains. The train ride speeds through the mountain up and down the tracks. The ride then stops at the top of a 200-foot mountain peek. Then, the ride reverses and drops down the mountain in the dark. The mythic Abominable Snowman ravages through the tracks and is not happy with the visitors. This is definitely a thrill ride. My husband and the older girls loved the ride.

3. Avatar Flight of Passage
Avatar Flight of Passage Avatar Flight of Passage Avatar Flight of Passage
Avatar Flight of Passage is my favorite ride. The attraction is a 3D flying simulator attraction ride. A rider is strapped on their own ride that moves up and down and all sides to simulate flying. Each person wears 3D glasses. There’s a huge IMAX screen in front of all the riders. The whole ride simulates riding a Banshee, a flying creature from the movie, Avatar. It was such a fun ride.

4. Na’vi River Journey
Na’vi River Journey Na’vi River Journey
Na’vi River Journey is another family favorite. It’s a slow boat ride through a mystical journey deep into Pandora’s glowing bioluminescent rainforest. The whole environment is magical and very detailed to the World of Pandora. During the ride, a Na’vi shaman sings a beautiful song. The sounds of the creatures in the Na’vi rainforest can be heard in every corner. The shadows of the animals pop up all around. They have done a great job making it feel like you are in the World of Pandora.

5. TriceraTop Spin
TriceraTop Spin is our son’s favorite ride. Much like the Dumbo ride from Magic Kingdom, it’s a fun ride for the littles. Instead of Dumbo the Elephant, the ride is a Triceratop dinosaur. The ride twirls around and around. The rider can control their dinosaur up or down. My son really likes it all the way on the top. Thankfully, it’s a slow ride and doesn’t make me dizzy.

Top Rides with Long Lines
Most of the rides on our favorite list are also the most popular ones in the park. The Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest, Avatar Flight of Passage, and Na’vi River Journey are the top attractions in Animal Kingdom. It is recommended to do these attractions first or last. The best times to ride with short lines will be first thing in the morning or the late afternoon. In the afternoon, most people will take advantage of the park hopper and will leave the park. Check the wait times for these popular rides. From our experience, they are worth the wait.
We absolutely loved the flight of passage. It became one of our favorite rides. We got to go to Pandora just before the pandemic started. We haven’t been to Disney since then and we usually go every year. We miss it 😭
Glad you guys had fun
